This month has been a quiet teacher. The kind that doesn’t raise its voice but leaves notes on your soul. I’ve been paying attention…to God, myself, and to the life happening around me. These aren’t earth-shattering revelations, but they’ve shifted something inside me. Here’s what I’ve learned sitting on the front porch of life this July:
1. Alcohol is not my friend.
I don’t say this to be dramatic… I say it because it’s true. Alcohol makes people act foolish (including myself) It clouds judgment, dulls clarity, and distorts peace. And I like peace. There is a reason that Pauls warns us against drunkeness. So I’m choosing clarity and calm over chaos and hangovers. Easy choice when you look at it that way. Alcohol has been a destructive part of my life and the lives of people I love for far too long. It has added no value whatsoever. I’m done.
2. God isn’t done with my real estate journey.
Just when I was ready to quit, throw in the open house signs, and declare “maybe this isn’t for me,” I got a phone call… someone needed me to show a house. A few days later, a friend reached out to ask me about listing his house. Right then, I knew: God said, “Keep going.” So I will keep going. He is the sculptor. I am only the clay…and I prefer it that way.
3. I’m not a hustler…and that’s okay.
I don’t need to keep up with anyone’s highlight reel or hustle culture. My pace is not slow… it’s steady. My story is unfolding on divine timing, not the world’s stopwatch. I’m not behind…I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.
4. Sisterhood is soul medicine.
Being around like-minded women, especially those walking through similar struggles, is healing in ways you can’t explain. We don’t have to fix each other… sometimes just sitting in the same story is enough.
5. It’s okay not to have it all figured out.
We don’t always get the why, the when, or the how. But we have the Who. And I trust that God knows what He’s doing, even when I don’t.
6. Motivation is optional, obedience is not.
Sometimes I have to force myself to get up, clean the kitchen, call the client, write the post… even when I don’t feel like it. But I always feel better once I do. Discipline leads where feelings fail.
7. God’s vision of me is better than mine.
I see the flaws, the past mistakes, the missed opportunities. He sees purpose, redemption, and glory. I choose to trust His perspective over mine. Every. Single. Time.
8. My husband gets me.
On the days when I just don’t have the strength or the energy to do all the things, he gently reminds me that it’s okay. He doesn’t guilt trip me or make me feel worthless. He encourages me to rest. I’m truly thankful for this man who God chose for me…and I love him more each day.
This month reminded me that God is still writing my story, and it’s a good one… even in the waiting, even in the wondering, even in the uncertainty.

And while time hasn’t healed me like people said it would, I’ve come to realize that it’s okay. August 3rd will be one year, and I miss my mom more than ever. Some days the ache feels fresh, like she just left.
But I’m comforted… deeply… because I know I’ll see her again. That hope is an anchor. That promise is enough to keep going.
If you’re in a season like this too, I hope you know you’re not alone. There’s beauty in the becoming… even when it comes with tears.
