And I miss her more than ever.

They say time heals all wounds, but if I’m being honest, it hasn’t healed this one yet. The ache is still there…some days it’s just a dull throb, and other days it’s sharp and fresh, like it happened yesterday.
I miss her voice…soft but strong, always full of love and wisdom..and strong opinions. I miss her hugs tight and warm. I miss her laugh, the way she found joy in being with her family… even the simplest things. I miss being able to call her and talk about anything and everything. I miss our lunch and wine dates and our pedicure spa days. And I miss how she always called me “baby girl”…no matter how old I got, no matter how grown I thought I was. Most of all… I miss my friend.
Grief is strange. It sneaks up on you when you’re folding laundry, driving down a familiar road, or hearing a song she loved on the radio. It doesn’t follow a straight path. It loops and swirls, bringing tears on a random Tuesday and laughter at the memory of her on a Sunday afternoon.
But even in the sadness, I cling to truth:
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 (NIV)
I know she’s with Jesus. I know her pain is gone and her joy is full. That brings me comfort. So much comfort. But knowing that doesn’t erase the empty space where she used to be in my daily life.
“He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain…” — Revelation 21:4 (NIV)
That’s the promise I hold onto. I will see her again one day. There will be hugs again. There will be laughter again…
And I’ll hear her call me “baby girl” again.
Until then, I’ll carry her memory with me. I’ll live in a way that would make her proud. I’ll thank God for every moment I got to spend with her. And I’ll keep trusting Him to carry me through the days she’s not here.
If you’re grieving too, just know…God sees you. He catches every tear. He understands the depth of your sorrow. You are not alone.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.” — Matthew 5:4 (NKJV)
And one day, we’ll be reunited. No more goodbyes. Just forever with the ones we love…and the One who makes it all possible.
